When I told an associate I was going to actively enter into the Bookkeeping Coaching commercial space, he asked me how I was going to differentiate myself.

What an odd question coming from him, given he helped with the creation of ZAP Accounting Software and given he unwound his bookkeeping knots with my assistance.

He finds Bookkeeping concepts to be very easy now.

If you ask him about his prior understanding, he can't truly recall the accounting swamp of mis-understanding he was swimming before we engaged. He can recall negative experiences with others, but an ability to relate to his own knots has vanished completely.

Forgetfulness has real benefits.

Keys to my Teaching System...

One key to my teaching system revolves around ZAP Accounting Software .

This solution is nothing like Quickbooks, FreshBooks or anything else in the marketplace. The other key to my teaching system revolves around Proper Education and Educational Corrections

The current curriculum for Bookkeeping and Accounting information is filled with Dogma and Misdirection. If you have not been exposed to it yet, forgo it. This educational process will be short and sweet, like learning to ride a bike for the first time. Once learned you'll be on your way with barley a second thought. If you were exposed to the older Educational System, it will take you a bit longer to follow along, because you will need to toss out old information to make way for proper information and that takes a bit longer.

Debits and Credits Be Gone...
I teach Bookkeeping and Accounting WITHOUT the use of Debits and Credits on the data entry side of things. This is not a watered down system. It's a logical system and you can see them working in the background if you ever want to learn more about them. In the software I use, they can also be turned off completely in the background to see if they are even still relevant today, and that is a claim no other Coach can make at this time.

Debits and credits served several purposes.

They enabled long addition - When a single column of positive and negative values exists, long addition can not be used. A slide rule, a digital tool or too many brain cells must be used.
They facilitated easy scorekeeping for Expense Accounts - When you purchase a box of Pencils on a checking account your checking account balance goes down. In a signed value system, that entry is negative. When you do the same with a credit card, your credit card account balance goes up. In a signed value system, that entry is positive.
They provided and aggregated cross checking system for quality control - The total number of debits had to equal the total number of credits for the books to have been deemed "valid". In theory, this worked great. In a digital age in which money may leave an account one day and arrive on a different day, this cross checking mechanism might cause more confusion than benefit if tools aren't put in place to help asses the results of such a system test.

The Balance Sheet is NOT a Snap Shot in time...

If I told you that 100% of the Accounting Text Books that defined a Balance Sheet as a snap-shot in time were fully incorrect, would you believe me? Could there be an educational conspiracy truly that large?

The statement that a Balance Sheet is a snapshot in time or related to a single date in time is a fully false statement.

Half of the Balance Sheet is a Snap Shot in time. The other half has a start date and end date.

Together the two halves provide a cross check on your data.

The majority of the mental blocking that transpired with Accounting education was most similar to a hypnotic block introduced by a fully false definition for one of the most relevant and important reports for the modern accounting system.

The Software I use for education not only puts this fact on display, it offers drill down reporting that no other Balance Sheet offers in such a simple fashion at this time

Tax & Financial Accounting - vs - Managerial & Cost Accounting

Understanding what Tax & Financial Accounting is, understanding how that differs from Managerial and Cost Accounting and understanding where the two blur together is key to a simplified accounting system that works for you. Most Accounting Educators do NOT clearly delineate these in the beginning and that is what leads to avoidable confusion.

Tax and Financial Accounting is generally the same for everyone. It results in an Income Statement and a Balance Sheet.

Managerial and cost Accounting has similar concepts for all, but the details are far more divergent among different industries.

Learning about these concepts early on in your education is key to simplifying everything.

Spreadsheets provide Bullet Proof Accounting not Databases...

Relational Databases use static data that is not intrinsically connected to other data when in the resting state. Since the advent of Spreadsheets in the 1980's they have offered a superior solution for Accounting and Bookkeeping, but no one slowed down long enough to figure that out, because there was no way to profit from it easily.

People have been using spreadsheets since the 1980s for Bookkeeping and Accounting. Someone with above average skills was able to create about 80% of that needed in a Bookkeeping system with ease. The last 20% was very tricky and to my knowledge no one did it until mid 2020 when ZAP Accounting Software published their version with a fully functional Balance Sheet.

ZAP Accounting Software's Bookkeeping Module

I teach all classes with ZAP Accounting Software Bookkeeping Module. I am fluent in other software but I will not explore them with you for free. After you learn the basics, I can try to help you "figure out" what it is the others are and are not doing which is creating the holes you need to fill for a fee if you'd like.
